Companies expecting speeding up product development to get to market before someone else beats them to it. Go too fast, however, and quality will be lost. When members of the Forbes Technology Council, including Due CTO Chalmers Brown, was asked how they would balance speed and quality in their product development process, there was a wide range of responses.

Chalmers suggested that the best way to go faster is to actually slow down and think about why you do each step in your process. He also recommended that “being strict with coding practices for your team, automating as much as possible, and having examples of following those practices coupled with good documentation will exponentially improve development speed in the future. ”

Other members offered suggestions like focus on making work count, remove old and unused code, explore alternative software development models, test everything and have a well-defined process.
