It is admirable to have lived a long life, but it is a burden to look back and tally up a long list of regrets, of promises unfulfilled and paths not taken. Those who do not do the most with what they are given, ignore their passions, and pass their years quietly discontented with a conventional and well-trodden trail yet do nothing about it – can they say that have truly lived at all? As far as we know, we have one life, and limitless possibilities of where to direct that life. Are you satisfied merely living the length of that life?
