3 Ways You Might be Sabotaging Yourself as a Business Owner

As a business owner, chances are that you work hard to make your dreams come true. Even if you are working hard, though, there is a chance that you could be sabotaging yourself.

Many of us hit roadblocks on the journey to success. What we might not consider is the fact that we could be creating some of those barriers ourselves. As you build your business, pay attention to see if you are sabotaging yourself in one (or more) of the following ways:

1. Trying to do Everything

One of the biggest ways to sabotage yourself is to try to do everything. As a business owner, especially if you are starting up, you feel like you need to do everything. As you grow, however, it’s important to start outsourcing some tasks.

Even if you aren’t to the point where you feel like you can outsource, don’t try to take on everything on your own. We all need a good support system and we all need help sometimes. Ask for help when you need it. If you have a good support system they will be rooting for your success. Let them be a part of it.

2. You Don’t Take Risks

Are you sabotaging yourself because you don’t take risks? While you don’t want to be always stepping out and taking big risks, the reality is that you won’t make it to the next level if you aren’t willing to step out of your comfort zone on occasion. Taking a little more risk can help you move forward and stretch for what’s next.

Sometimes you need to act first, and take the plunge. It can be scary, but that’s a good thing. If you aren’t willing to put yourself out there, you will rarely break through to the next level. Instead, you are far more likely to fall into the trap of mediocrity.

3. Getting Wrapped Up in Busy-ness

One of the biggest ways of sabotaging yourself is being too busy to attend to some of the things that might really matter with your business or life. There’s a difference between being busy and productive. You can be running around and feeling busy without actually accomplishing anything meaningful.

When you are too busy to keep learning, or if you are too busy to engage in networking or participate in other useful tasks that could take you the next level, you run the risk of hitting barriers to your success.

Take a step back and see if you could be using your time better. You might be surprised to discover that you can get more time when you re-think your priorities.
