3 Businesses That Are Perfect for Moms

Many moms want to spend more time with their children but don’t want to give up their careers. One way to have the best of both worlds is to start a small business. This is what I personally have done, and although it is challenging to manage both, it does allow me more flexibility to spend time with my kids and do a job I love.

Below are some examples of businesses that are perfect for moms who want to make their own income but still stay home and watch their children.

Blogging

Blogging is a wonderful business for any parent who wants to work from home and take care of their children. Keep in mind that blogging is a lot more work than it looks. It takes significant time to build a blog from scratch, but once you put in the time and effort, it’s a job that can pay big dividends.

It took me two years before I even made a dime from my blog but 6 years in, I now make a full time income from my site and take care of my two year old twins during the day all at the same time.

Graphic Design

Graphic design is a field that is wide open. You can start your own business and design websites, greeting cards, logos, and more. Many moms who are graphic designers advertise their services on Etsy and to small business who might need a brand overhaul.

This is a great field because you can do as much or as little as you like, and there is truly no limit to the amount your business can grow. As a mom, it’s important to consider what type of graphic design you want to do and what market you want to be in. For example, you could be in the wedding market and design wedding invitations or you could be in the baby market and design nursery art.

Whatever you decide, this is a great field for creatives who don’t mind working hard to grow their client bases.

Web Programming

Programming is a field that’s constantly growing as new programming languages come out. There is also a very high demand for people who know how to build apps for businesses.

Luckily, you don’t need to go back to school to get a four year degree to learn how to program. There are many accelerated programs available where you can go for a few months and learn how to built websites or apps.

For moms, web programming is great because you can take on smaller projects or bigger ones depending on how busy your schedules is. You can also do contract work and freelance work as a programmer so you don’t have to have a traditional 9-5 job.

Ultimately, many moms automatically think of sales or multi level marketing when it comes to starting their own small businesses or making money on the side. However, it’s important for moms to know that there are other options for them when it comes to learning new skills and starting profitable businesses from home like the ideas mentioned above.
