4 Tricks to Help You Stay on Track with Your New Year’s Goals

Reach Your Goals

Did you make new year’s goals? How are you doing at keeping up with them?

While I’m not big into new year’s resolutions, I do get the appeal of setting goals and working toward them. One of the things that’s tough about reaching your goals is how easy it is to get off track.

If you are already falling behind with your new year’s goals, you might need to figure out how to get back on track. Here are a few tricks that can help you move forward and make the most out of your goals this year:

1. Get an Accountability Partner

No matter your goal, an accountability partner can help. When you have someone to check in with, you are more likely to stay on track. Just the act of knowing you have to report can help you stick with your plan.

You can make it even more likely that you will keep up with your goals by setting up a bet or agreeing to pay money if you don’t stay on track.

2. Reduce the Number of Resolutions You Have

Really look at your goals. Did you just make a list of things you want to do? Or are you really working toward things that will improve your life or business?

Clarify your goals and narrow them down. Ditch the resolutions that aren’t really going to help you advance in some way. Once you’ve done that, you’ll find it’s easier to focus on what matters and you’ll accomplish a lot more.

3. Celebrate Your Small Wins

A lot of the time we focus so much on the big end result that we don’t enjoy the journey. And that can bog you down and cause you to give up. Instead, set up smaller milestones along the way. Celebrate those small wins as they happen so you can feel good about your progress.

Plus, celebrating these wins will help you stay motivated as you pursue your new year’s goals. This can be a perfect way to set goals other times of the year as well. Break it down, and celebrate with your accountability partner when you do well. It’s the perfect way to enjoy yourself as you make a difference in your life or business.

4. Visualize Your Progress

Don’t just try to visualize the end result and how you’ll feel when your goals are reached. You should also visualize your progress in a very real way as you move forward. Create a chart that tracks your new year’s goals. Or maybe you can create some other visual. Many people make vision boards to help them remember what they are working toward.

However you decide to take a visual approach, it can be a good way to see a visible reminder of what you’re working toward.

In the end, sticking to new year’s goals is tough. You can get discouraged, especially if you fail along the way. With a little help from these tips, you can stay on track.

Plus, you can also remember that you don’t have to set goals just at the beginning of a new year. Set goals year round, and use these tips to stay on top of them.
