Recently, I’ve been stuck in a negativity spiral. Unfortunately, this type of negativity can impact your life and your business.
If you want to succeed, developing a positive business mindset is important. But how do you do that when you start to feel things slipping outside your control? How do you develop positivity when you feel like you’re caught up in all things negative?
I’m in the process of breaking out of my funk and re-developing my positive business mindset. Here are some of the tricks that I’m using to overcome my current negativity:

Toggle1. Visualize Your Positive Outcome
One of the best things you can do is visualize your positive outcome. What does your business look like next year? In five years? In 10? How does your life look once your entrepreneur goals are up and running?
I’ve been changing my business model and exploring new avenues. As a result, I’ve been considering what I want my life and business to look like in its new incarnation. This is providing me with motivation and a positive business mindset that is bringing me out of my funk.
While you don’t want to become too obsessed with positive thinking to the point you live in a dream world and getting nothing done, visualization can be a valuable tool.
2. Write Your Goals in Present Tense
How often do we think of our goals as something that happens in the future? While some focus on future accomplishments is important, it can be powerful to write your goals in the present tense. This can bring the goals closer to where you are now, and help you visualize them. Rather than telling myself that I want to work toward bringing in an extra $1,000 a month, my friend suggested that I write “I have $1,000 in revenues from my new course each month.”
This puts me in a positive business mindset, and it also encourages me to look at what I’m doing each day to make it a reality.
3. Embrace Hearing “No”
We hate rejection. And when we are on the receiving end of it, it’s hard to stay motivated and positive. Instead, flip the script. Remind yourself that the “nos” mean that you’re out there trying. With each “no,” there’s a lesson. Find the lesson and use it to improve.
When you do that, it’s easier to take the rejection and make it positive. We all fail sometimes. Failure can be a great teacher. Seek out more ways to fail — and learn lessons. As you embrace this and turn those negatives into positives, your business will thrive.
4. Stop Replaying the Past
One of the hardest things for me to do is to stop re-hashing the past. I keep thinking, “What if I’d done this?” or “Jeez, that was a stupid thing to do.” While you want to acknowledge your mistakes and learn from them, you can’t keep living in the past and beating yourself up over these things.
Instead, try looking at the mistake, and finding the lesson. Then let it go. You can’t keep reminding yourself that you were terrible at something. Instead, remind yourself that you do a lot of things well and that you are amazing today.
Acknowledge your progress and build a positive business mindset that allows you to move forward and do great things.
