“Why do we need money beyond a point? If we are free of ill health, enmity, and debt, is that not enough? Too much money only leads to less peace.”
– Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya
When people begin to equate money with power, they are playing a dangerous game. Money should signify comfort, the comfort of being able to afford simple pleasures, access to decent healthcare, the ability to keep one’s family well fed and happy, and the comfort of holding down a job that is fulfilling in some way. Beyond that, one is heading into greedy territory: pleasures are no longer “simple”, nor are they even all that fulfilling; a job becomes a game wherein your personal worth is on the line, and your family becomes spoiled – and at what cost? Who knows. But there is always a cost, either to you, to someone else, or to the planet.
