“Money. The ultimate motivation. The ultimate way of keeping score.”
– Michael Connelly
Unlike all virtues worth pursuing in life, greed is quantifiable, and getting easier and easier to check: just pull up your bank balance. Google your net worth, if you’re the kind of person whose net worth can be Googled. Examine the company you’re in: how many more or less zeroes appear on their pay cheque every month? Does this motivate you to do more, to earn more? Money is a dangerous game because, like Tetris, you can’t win, you can only keep playing to a certain point and then lose. When it comes to keeping score, it would be wise to reassess the way you should be measuring your worth.
