“Money does not change the sickness, only the symptoms.”
– John Steinbeck
Despite what a lot of people think, money can change a lot – the conditions under which certain people live, access to better services, a person’s social standing – but it doesn’t change the fundamental state of the person in question. It can spoil a man, but it cannot prevent what will inevitably strike him down. It cannot ward off fatal diseases, though it can alleviate the comfort of the sufferer. A person is still a person, even if they are wealthy. Their habits can be groomed, made softer, or more polite, but their true natures can still come out at the crucial moment. Money changes what can be changed: it’s up to you to decide how you will let it change you.
