Numbers speak louder than words. It is so easy to recite what we believe we value, but it could be said that there is not a more effective method of examining ones values that through the examination of their spending habits. It’s often recommended to put aside at least ten percent into savings, another five to ten percent into charity, and a portion into investments.
But when we look at our checkbook, where is our money really going? It is not to say that we shouldn’t keep some money every month for play and fun, but the balance between entertainment and potentially superfluous purchases warrant a close eye. When you look at your spending this month, make sure your values are in the right place.
