“There are people who have money and people who are rich.”
-Coco Chanel
People who have money are not always ‘rich’, in fact some may be part of the newly wealthy and still be poor in their ways. Being rich does not necessarily denote money in this case, it refers more to the richness of one’s personality.
Class isn’t really something that can be taught, it can potentially be learned, but it has to come from within. I remember a great aunt of mine telling me the life lesson of those who are wealthy in money but poor in their ways, are not really rich; truly rich people give.
Now she could have meant that somebody who is really rich is generous with their money, and those who want to seem like they have money but aren’t charitable are just posers. Or she could have also meant that those who give of their time, and wealth of personality are those who get the warm fuzzy feeling of charity are truly “rich”. I suppose I will never know which she meant, but regardless of her meaning; be kind, be generous, have class, and realize that having money does not mean you are “rich“.
