Sometimes owning a business can feel more like a slog than like freedom. Monetizing your dreams is hard work, and the roller coaster of being a small business owner comes with a lot of ups and downs.

It’s always good to keep a reminder of why you started your business in the first place handy, so that you can inject a shot of inspiration into your day. I find it’s also helpful to hear some inspiration from other business owners. Hearing their words of wisdom helps keep me motivated, and often provides a direction for me to work in.

So here are seven quotes that I love about business that will hopefully give you a little pick me up!

Seven Inspirational Quotes

“Two swear off making mistakes is very easy. All you have to do is swear off having ideas.” Leo Burnett

It’s always nice to be reminded that everyone makes mistakes. It’s part of the process, not a sign of the end.

“Repetition makes reputation, and reputation makes customers.” Florence Nightingale Graham

This is just pure business truth. Do well consistently, and customers will come.

“The client is not always right.” Enzo Ferrari

Too true!

Someone once told me growth and comfort do not coexist. And I think it’s a really good thing to remember.” Ginni Rometty

I like that this one reminds me that 1) growth is supposed to be painful, and 2) growth isn’t constant. There will be some comfort before you get back into growth.

“I talk a lot about taking risks. And then I follow that up quickly with ‘take prudent risks.'” Irene Rosenfield

Not everyone can take the same risks; you have to take the right ones for you.

“My definition of ‘innovative’ is providing value to the customer.” Mary Barra

A good reminder that if no one wants your products, it doesn’t matter how innovative they are.

“Only the best is good enough.” Ole Kirk Christiansen

Truly, this sums it up. What are you doing if not bringing your best? What are you saving it for?

Hopefully these provide you with a dose of inspiration this week!
