Napoleon Hill – When Defeat Comes
“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.”
– Napoleon Hill
If we can trace the traveling speakers, thought leaders, self-help gurus and professional personal-success mentors to one person, it’s Napoleon Hill, who spent much of the second quarter of the 20th century outlining his principles to personal growth and success to an adoring public. Some of his advice borderlined on questionable (he claimed unseen, spiritual “Masters” “can disembody themselves and travel instantly to any place they choose in order to acquire essential knowledge” after having been visited by such spirits), but other mantras, like the quote above, are valuable enough to last us through the ages. After all, what is experimentation but to begin a project, monitor its result, tweak its direction, and sail once more?
