Money Is Like Fire – Vera Nazarian
“Money is like fire. It is only good when there’s just the right amount of it, when it’s properly contained and under your control.”
– Vera Nazarian
Like everything else, there is sense in keeping money in moderation. Too much, then the margin of error widens and people find themselves in all sorts of trouble to maintain their lifestyle (like Bono’s controversial tax arrangement, or Kanye West’s reported $53 million in debt, which he called upon Mark Zuckerberg, on his birthday, on Twitter, to bail him out of). Or, beyond taxes or debt or even the law, the emotional out-of-control-ness which delude people’s perceptions of themselves, affect their relationships, and remove them from the values they once had. The limit of control is being aware that the top 20% richest households in the USA own 84% of the country’s wealth and feeling a responsibility to help balance that inequality. Stray outside that consciousness, and you’ve got a full-on wildfire. Money works better for everyone when there is enough to go around, and it’s properly contained and well under control.
