I like to consider myself a pretty motivated person. However, I’m not a machine. I’m human just like everyone else. This means that sometimes I feel incredibly lazy and need to motivate myself. After all, if I don’t run my business, who will?
Additionally, I recently realized I still have holes in my motivation. After attending Tony Robbins: Unleash The Power Within, I noticed that I still need to motivate myself to reach my full potential. Sound familiar?
If you’re ready to take 2018 by storm, here are some of the ways you can motivate yourself when you inevitably feel lazy.

ToggleTrack your goals.
Over the years, I’ve learned to really love data. One such data point that helps me motivate myself is setting goals. Specifically, goals I can actually measure.
For example, I have a revenue goal in 2018 and I know exactly how I’m going to get there. The pursuit of the goal is also enjoyable to me. In order to stay focused, I make sure to check in with that goal every single month.
Practice gratitude.
I’m self-aware enough to realize that I tend to get lazy when I feel overwhelmed. I have a history of anxiety and I get a little paralyzed when I feel it.
At the Tony Robbins event, I learned that fear and gratitude cannot coexist at the same time. That’s why I’ve gotten in the habit of practicing gratitude for all the good things in my life whenever I feel lazy. This alone has been a game changer as I motivate myself.
As I’ve previously mentioned, I also remember what it was like to be broke. It sucks and I refuse to go back there. Anytime I start feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I practice gratitude for the fact that my bills will be paid with no issues.
Check for any limiting beliefs.
Sometimes laziness also comes as a result of our own limiting beliefs. For example, I have a very stubborn limiting belief that if I work hard it will take over my entire life. That’s why sometimes I get lazy and find it difficult to motivate myself.
The reason I believe this is because a part of me still thinks I can’t have everything I want. In other words, something has to give. This is based on lack mentality of the amount of time I have, my own ability and the amount of abundance that is available to me.
By outing your limiting beliefs and then choosing to behave differently, you can more easily motivate yourself. Remember, laziness is sometimes just a form of self-sabotage rooted in a fear.
Just start in order to gain momentum.
Another thing I learned at Tony Robbins: Unleash The Power Within is that sometimes we just need to gain momentum. If you need to motivate yourself in your business, just start on one project. This will get the ball rolling on momentum and before you know it you’ll be working again.
Final Thoughts
We humans like to sabotage ourselves. One of those forms of sabotage is laziness. By learning how to motivate yourself, you’ll be able to overcome the laziness and get back to business.
