4 Marketing Tactics to Try in 2018

Social Media Desk

Social Media around the World When it comes to marketing tactics, sometimes you have to experiment with many of them before you figure out what works best for your business. This means you’ll have to be willing to spend some time (and maybe money) on determining what works and what doesn’t.

The good news is once you’re sure of what works, you can focus your attention on marketing tactics that get the most results for you. This means you’ll know where to invest dollars and what’s the best use of your time.

If you haven’t quite figured out what marketing tactics work for your business yet, here are some you can try in the coming year. But first, a note about having your own website.

Warning: Don’t Solely Rely on Social Media

Before getting into marketing tactics to try in your business, we must first discuss why you can’t solely rely on it.

Let’s say Instagram works for you and you spend time and money building your following. Let’s also say you don’t have a website where you’ve been directing your following to get more information. This means you’re just relying on Instagram.

What happens when Instagram changes their algorithm and people can no longer see your posts? Or worse, what if your account gets shut down? You lose money, that’s what happens.

That’s why no matter which technique you stick with, always make sure you are directing people to your own website and collecting emails. Now let’s get into these marketing tactics.

Podcasting

Podcasting is an extremely popular way to get the word out to multiple channels at once. It also makes it easy to repurpose content for blogs and even YouTube!

What I personally love about podcasting is that people don’t need to stop everything they are doing to listen to it. They can listen to them while driving, working or cleaning.

Video

Video marketing is huge. People like to see who is behind a brand and engage with them in that way. There’s also a big push for people to create content on social sites. For example, in my personal experience, Facebook ads that use video cost me far less money than ads with a static image.

Facebook Ads

Speaking of Facebook ads, if you haven’t tried them yet you probably should. With the proper guidance you can get some pretty cost effective conversions for email sign ups and webinar registrations. You can also get some dirt cheap traffic to your website (where you would also be collecting emails).

I’ve been learning the ropes of Facebook Ads throughout 2017. In 2018 I plan on throwing some more money into it.

Instagram

It seems that everywhere I go lately people aren’t exchanging phone numbers but rather Instagram handles. Granted, maybe this is because I live in Miami where most people are fashion, lifestyle and food bloggers, but even among my financial friends there’s a big push for IG.

Based on my own experimenting this year, this is where I get the most bang for my time and money. I’ve had people hire me as a coach because they follow me on Instagram.

Final Thoughts

As I already mentioned, not all marketing tactics are going to work for you. That’s why you need to spend some time experimenting with a few to see what’s yielding the best results. Above all else, allow yourself to make some mistakes along the way.
