3 Ways to Start Your Business Week Right

Mondays are tough. It’s hard to get motivated sometimes. As a result, it can put you behind on your week. So, how do you start your business week right?

As you get ready for the week, you want to get off to a positive start. Here are some of the things you can do if you want to start your business week off on the right foot:

1. Start with Your Weekly Business Goals

One of the things a friend of mine likes to do is take a couple of hours on Monday morning to plan out the week and come up with goals. You don’t need to rush yourself, either. Rather than expecting that you need to get a whole bunch of things done first thing on Monday morning, you might be better off taking a deep breath and then planning the week.

As you plan your weekly business goals, enjoy yourself. Have a cup of coffee or enjoy a good breakfast. Do it in a quiet place that you enjoy. It’s a perfect way to look ahead at the week and figure out what you want to accomplish.

Don’t try to cram too much into your week. Instead, identify the most important tasks that are most likely to help your business. Whether it’s creating a new invoicing system, working on your marketing plan for the next month, or closing a deal with a vendor, look at what’s going to help your business. Then, divide tasks by day to work on.

Focus on the most important items, and plan out which items you can do. If you do this over a relaxing breakfast, it will feel more inspiring. And as long as you limit your list to things that make the most sense for the business, you have less of a chance of getting overwhelmed.

2. Get Organized

If you really want to start your business week right, it helps to get organized. Clean up and organize your work area. I know I’m a lot more productive when the clutter is cleared up. You might be surprised at how much better you feel, too, when things aren’t messy.

Don’t use this as a time to get distracted and procrastinate, however. Instead, make sure you organize your work space to help you accomplish what needs to be done. If you need to set up a whiteboard to manage a project, do so. If you need to arrange sticky notes or use other organizational tools, make it a point.

When you get set up like this, you can set up your week for success. If you have your goals and your organization, you have a roadmap for the week.

3. Find an Accountability Partner

Make sure you have a good team in place. Check in on your progress. Find a way to hold yourself accountable for the week’s good efforts. If you plan on check-ins during the week, you are more likely to succeed in achieving your goals.

If you want to start your business week right, you need to be on top of the situation. Start it on a positive note, enjoying a planning session that sets you up for success. Once you have your plan, get organized, and have a way to be accountable for your progress, you’ll feel much better about the week — and ready for success.
