3 Reasons Working Out Helps Your Success

Updated on May 26th, 2018

When was the last time you exercised?

If you’re busy starting a business or working on a side gig, you might think that you don’t have time to add exercise to your schedule. However, that might be a mistake. You might be surprised to learn that working out can actually contribute to your successful lifestyle and business. Here’s how:

1. Exercise Boosts Your Brain Power

First of all, exercise is good for your brain. Working out builds your brain structure and improves its function. This is good news when it comes to working on your business. If you make time to work out, your brain will improve. That means you are likely to come up with better ideas, and work more efficiently.

Working out can help you focus as well. When you get to work after you exercise, you are more likely to stay focused and less likely to be distracted. I like to start my day with a little yoga, and I usually try to do other exercises throughout the day. I’ve started going for a walk many afternoons to help battle the mid-afternoon slump.

Physical activity can also help you properly tire your body so that you sleep well at night. Good sleep is essential for better focus and better decision-making, so being a little tired at night so you can just drop off to sleep makes sense.

Don’t view working out as a time suck. Instead, consider at an essential part of your efforts to build your business and reach success. Invest some time and effort into working out, and it is likely to pay you back in increased productivity and better ideas.

2. Exercise Forces You to Manage Your Schedule Better

One of the things I have found as I make exercise a priority is that it forces me to better manage my schedule. Instead of seeing exercise as something that I do if I have time, I schedule in the time to work out. This creates the necessity of scheduling other items — and working to stay on track. Without all these extra gaps in my schedule, it’s easier to stay on track and do what needs to be done. Once exercise is non-negotiable, like client work and answering emails, it changes things. I’m much more efficient now. I know that I need to get the exercise in, along with my other obligations, so there’s less time for distractions online and other issues.

3. Exercise Improves your Confidence

Confidence is an important factor in success. One of the ways you can improve your confidence is to exercise. Working out can help you improve your self-esteem, and that in turn can boost your confidence and help you boost your chances of success.

I know that I feel better about myself when working out. I feel good because I know I’m working on my health. It also helps me make better decisions. When I work out, I also exercise better self-discipline when it comes to my nutritional choices. It’s easier to eat right when I’m also working out. All of this helps me maintain a healthier self-esteem, and helps me feel better about asserting myself.

Don’t underestimate the importance of exercise. Make time to work out every day, and you might be surprised by how much it can help your success.
